Courage (4)

Courage.

Courage is intentionally choosing to step into vulnerability. By showing up here, in this space is you have chosen courage.

Let’s step into this journey of transformational healing together.

You may be wondering what working with me as your therapist will look like...

Here you are, courageously making the choice to seek change. Which reveals that you are capable of so much more than you may believe.
My aim will be to increase your awareness so you can open the door to healing. I facilitate this by offering a new perspective, one that may have been overlooked by you while you have been deep in the ruts of your habits.
Getting a better view.
Through the therapeutic process, I will help you discover when and how your habits were developed. We uncover why they may have been necessary to help keep you safe in those moments. We work towards finding gratitude for what has shaped you and accepting that it is ok to let go of habits that are no longer needed and have begun to negatively impact your life and relationships.

Shaping habits.
Most of how we relate to others is learned behavior from experiences that shape us when we are young.
Whether they have been learned from positive and healthy modeling or adverse experiences in which we used trauma responses and coping skills to create safety for ourselves, these behaviors become the ruts in the dirt roads of our brain. Our habits.

We will delve right into illuminating these habits to bring them into your consciousness. Once you have awareness we then tackle them together by understanding the why, the how, evaluating them and deciding whether they are behaviors that need to be carried around with us and used in every relationship, every situation.

Habits of thought are some of the most destructive habits that leave us feeling stuck or worse, burdened with severe depression and anxiety.

Once you have gained awareness into your habits we will begin the process of learning how to actively choose a new route, creating new habits.

Freedom comes with the realization that with active choice, effort, and time habits can be changed.

It all starts with courageously taking that first step.
Our first contact will be our consultation call which will be used to determine if we are the right fit to work together. I’ll ask you about why you’ve chosen to reach out at this time, what you’re challenges are and what your goals are for therapy. If it is a good fit, we will schedule our first session to begin the process of increasing awareness and creating new habits. Does it take work? Absolutely. Is it worth it? Yes, it can be one of the best investments you ever make in yourself.
What do I use to help you make the transformation happen?
I work using the principal of Natural Lifemanship, which is a trauma based, relationship focused therapeutic model. I also implement Sensorimotor Psychotherapy techniques to bring awareness to bodily sensation and help you reconnect to your body.
Practices from Reality Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are also used in therapy when appropriate. I focus on experiential therapies that have been scientifically proven to reconnect you to your true self in a timely manner.
And that’s my priority, to help you get on track soon.

What do I do when I’m not doing therapy?
I am tall and I love to play volleyball. Cliche I know, but it's true. I also love activities that include the outdoors and some form of water. Beach, lake, river, hot springs, trickling creek, pool. I am here for it. I like to read and you can usually find me in the middle of two or three different personal growth and development books at a time. I also love adventuring with my sweet husband and our two dogs every chance we get!
Wondering whether now is the right time for therapy?
